新年のご挨拶 & 日本ニュージーランド経済人会の紹介
2023年と新年2024年についてコメントを申し上げる機会を与えてくださった月刊NZに心より感謝します。
クリスマスは、ニュージーランドだけでなく世界中で家族が集まる季節です。同様に、日本でも神社に詣でて新年を祝い、お盆には家族のお墓参りに行って亡くなった人達を偲んで集まります。すべては人間関係に関するものです。
ニュージーランドと日本はそれぞれの半球の反対側に位置していて季節も違います。ニュージーランドが夏の時は日本では冬、そして日本が夏の時にはニュージーランドは冬です。
しかしニュージーランドと日本には多くの類似点もあります。タラナキ山はよく富士山と比較されます。ニュージーランドでは寿司が広くメニューに載るようになり、日本でもラグビーが急速に人気スポーツとなり、幅広いファンを獲得しています。環太平洋に位置する島国という共通の立場も、両国の国民性とレジリアンスに影響を与えています。
ニュージーランドと日本の間にあるこの二分法は、私たち両国と両国民が互いに惹かれ合う理由の一部です。日本からニュージーランドへの自動車や工業製品の輸出、ニュージーランドから日本への農林水産物の輸出は、比較優位の原則に基づいています。
これらの流れは依然として重要性を持っていますが、今日商品とサービスの付加価値貿易が取引状況を更に豊かにしています。この1年間で、日本はニュージーランド第4位の二国間貿易相手国にランクされました。
両国の政治、民間、個人レベルでの関係の強さがビジネスの信頼感を生み出す基盤になっています。今日私たちが住む非常に複雑で競争の激しい世界において、ニュージーランドと日本の関係はかつてないほど重要になっています。
そこに日本ニュージーランド経済人会の役割価値があります。年間を通しての定期的なビジネス関連ネットワーキングイベントに加えて年次合同会議は将来の繁栄がかかる重要な貿易経済問題に取り組むフォーラムを提供しています。
2023年にはクライストチャーチで行われ、記念すべき50周年の2024年の合同会議は11月17日〜19日に倉敷市で開催されます。この情報に関しては当会のウェブサイト www.jnzbc.comをご参照下さい。

New Year Message & Introduction to JNZBC（メッセージ原文）
Sincere thanks to Gekkan NZ for this opportunity to offer a few reflections on 2023 and the New Year ahead.
Christmas is a time of year when families come together in New Zealand and across the world. In the same way, people come together in Japan to ring in the New Year at shrines across the country, and at Obon to remember absent friends by visiting the family graveyard. It’s all about relationships.
New Zealand and Japan are located geographically apart in different hemispheres of the world. The seasons are different. Summer in New Zealand is winter in Japan and vice versa.
There are also many similarities between New Zealand and Japan. Mt Taranaki is often compared to Mt Fuji. Sushi is widely on the menu in New Zealand and rugby is fast becoming a national sport of choice with a wide following in Japan. Our shared positioning as island countries located on the Pacific Rim of Fire also feeds into the national character and resilience of both peoples.
The dichotomy between New Zealand and Japan is part and parcel of what draws us together. Japanese exports to New Zealand of cars and manufactured goods, and New Zealand exports to Japan of agricultural, fisheries and forestry products are based on comparative advantage.
These flows remain of bedrock importance, but the picture today is a much richer tapestry of added value trade in goods and services. In the year to September 2023 Japan ranked as New Zealand 4th largest bilateral trade partner.
The strength of the relationship at a political, business and personal level provides the foundation for business confidence. In the highly complex and contested world we live in today, the relationship between New Zealand/Japan has never been more important.
That is where the JNZBC seeks to make a difference. In addition to regular business related networking events in both countries, the Annual Joint Conference provides a forum for the business leaders of both countries to address the key trade and economic issues on which our shared future prosperity depends.
The Annual Joint Conference was held in Christchurch this year. Next year we will celebrate a significant milestone in holding the 50th Annual Joint Conference on 17-19 November in Kurashiki, Japan. Please keep an eye on our website www.jnzbc.com for further information.
